Why does Ladybūd Bälm contain THC

In a nutshell - THC helps CBD to do it's job longer and more effectively.

The slow absorption rate of the skin permits the therapeutic properties to last longer in a targeted area while prohibiting the effects of altered mental states from developing.

While CBD can be healing on it's own, it is only affective at a dose of 6.2 mg/day, (it did reduced knee-joint swelling) and that increasing the dose to 62 mg/day failed to yield additional improvements. In some studies, increasing the CBD dosage had reverse effects.

Cannabinoid Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a main bioactive component from marijuana, and the active component THC is effective in treating osteoarthritis, muscle aches and inflammatory pain. THC exerts bioactivities by activating cannabinoid receptors, that speak to our body's two main cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are present in the central nervous system and CB1 and CB2 receptors in certain peripheral tissues.

Transdermal administration avoids the first-pass metabolism effect that is associated with the oral route and thus improves drug bioavailability. Furthermore, transdermal administration allows a steady infusion of a drug to be delivered over a prolonged period of time, while also minimising the adverse effects of higher drug peak concentrations, which can improve patient adherence. Topical administration is potentially ideal for localised symptoms, such as those found in dermatological conditions and arthritis but also in peripheral neuropathic pain for which capsaicin patches have been proposed as a second line treatment after high quality of evidence was provided.

Will I Get High Using Your Topical Balms?

Our body hosts two different cannabinoid receptors, referred to as the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1 is a psychoactive receptor responsible for controlling and alleviating pain, while the CB2 is a non-psychoactive receptor that regulates pain and inflammation.

Once the user applies any full spectrum topical to a specific location on the skin, the CB2 receptors on the surface layer of an individual’s flesh bind to the cannabinoids in each treatment. This effectively prevents the absorption of cannabis into the bloodstream by activating the endocannabinoid system that initiations a protective barrier.

The CB1 receptors prevent the body from breaking down an endocannabinoid referred to as anandamide, which permits the active flow of the therapeutic neurotransmitter while producing a non-psychoactive effect. The slow absorption rate of the skin permits the therapeutic properties to last longer in a targeted area while prohibiting the effects of altered mental states from developing, too.

While consuming marijuana affects the entire body and stimulates a widespread influence on your entire anatomy, the impact of topical cannabis reaches the areas solely where applied.

The cannabinoids in topicals do not actually enter the bloodstream (that is why topicals do not get you high), instead they interact with the peripheral nervous system. However, not enough studies have been performed to verify these statements.

We here at Ladybūd have done our own, in-house drug tests, after using the balm for 3 weeks, 2 to 4 times a day (on shoulders, knees, ankles, hands and feet) and all test results were negative!

Yes. We recommend 2-4 times a day, or as needed.
